Cloud storage for teams working across Asia and Europe

Plan uploads, naming, handoffs and costs for a distributed team without assuming where a provider hosts data.

The short answer

For a team working across Asia and Europe, test upload and download performance from each working location, agree on file naming and ownership, and plan a recoverable handoff. Language availability is separate from network performance and server location.

Measure from the places people work

A connection’s advertised speed is not the same as sustained upload throughput. Use a representative non-sensitive file from each office or home connection. Record upload and download separately and repeat at normal working times. A transfer-time calculator estimates duration; it does not measure latency or speed.

Make handoffs understandable

Use one date convention such as YYYY-MM-DD, explicit version labels and an agreed folder owner. Include the timezone in time-sensitive handoff notes. Avoid naming a file only “final” when several teams are editing different versions.

Budget for the whole collection

Estimate working files, photos, videos and monthly growth. Distinguish capacity charges from any download or account charges in the provider’s terms. Before migrating a large archive, test whether downloaded filenames and non-Latin characters remain readable on your team’s devices.

Checklist

  1. 1Test both directions from actual locations.
  2. 2Agree on dates, versions and folder ownership.
  3. 3Keep an independent recovery copy.
  4. 4Review costs and export behavior before migration.

Good questions. Clear answers.

Does an Asian language version mean servers are in Asia?

No. Website language does not establish where data is stored or which network path a transfer uses.

Can this site measure my internet speed?

The transfer calculator uses the connection speed you enter. It does not run a speed test.
